'LPBW': Matt Roloff Didn't Tell Amy Roloff About His Christmas Surprise Because He Didn't Want it 'Blabbed Around'
Matt and Amy Roloff from Little People, Big World divorced years ago, and the most recent season of the show displayed how Amy’s moving forward off of Roloff Farms. Prior to this season, the couple worked together on creating a beautiful Christmas celebration on the farm. But it didn’t go exactly as Amy planned.
While Amy had one idea in mind, Matt had a different plan. And Matt told Amy he didn’t want to share his surprise with her in case she couldn’t keep it a secret.
Matt and Amy Roloff from ‘Little People, Big World’ invited kids to Roloff Farms to celebrate Christmas
Roloff Farms is well-known for its fall pumpkin season, but Matt and Amy decided to share their wealth and cheer with others aside from their own children back in 2016. Us Weekly notes the couple partnered with Sparks of Hope to give some kids a Roloff Farms Christmas experience complete with gifts, activities, and plenty of cheer.
While the idea was initially Amy’s, Matt was totally on board. And he wanted their four kids to also jump in and help out, though it seems he had some surprises up his sleeve.
“You guys were raised doing big-time holidays,” Matt told his kids. “Let’s start doing them with other people. And these kids have probably never had a Christmas like you guys grew up with .… I think we can do better than just having kids in the barn. We got to kick it up a notch — or two. Or three.”
Matt told Amy he didn’t want her to ‘blab’ about his Christmas surprise
Matt ultimately decided to build a train the kids could ride in that would circle around Roloff Farms. But he didn’t want to spoil the surprise by telling Amy about it. And it seems he was worried she would give away the unexpected event.
Amy met up with Matt to talk about the Christmas ideas she had planned. “This is a special event,” Amy explained, per Us Weekly. “I’ve got things planned, set up, an old-fashioned Christmas and all that. But, you had mentioned something about doing something. What is that?”
“I’m doing a surprise thing,” Matt answered.
“I know, but why can’t you tell me?” Amy questioned.
“No. 1, I think it’ll be fun for you to be surprised, and No. 2, I don’t want it getting, you know, blabbed around,” Matt answered.
Amy appeared shocked Matt thinks she would “blab” his idea to others. “I wouldn’t blab it around,” she reassured.
“Thirdly, I don’t want you to shut it down,” Matt concluded. “That’s the most important thing.”
Christmas looks a lot different for Matt and Amy in 2020

Amy was ultimately upset that Matt didn’t share his Christmas surprise with her ahead of time. But she’s certainly not worried about it in 2020. While Matt and Amy attempted to make holiday celebrations work between them post-divorce, they seem happier than ever doing their own thing with their partners.
So far, it looks like Matt and his girlfriend, Caryn Chandler, are working on decorating Roloff Farms. “Starting to swing towards the Christmas spirit,” Matt captioned an Instagram post on Nov. 28. “A few lights always help.”
As for Amy, she has her fiancé, Chris Marek, stringing lights outside of her new home. “I love this man,” Amy captioned her post. “Chris is so willing to help out and tackle all projects, including climbing ladders to put up the Christmas lights. There’s just something about Christmas that puts joy in my heart and thankfulness.”
We’re glad 2020 is slated to be a much less dramatic holiday season for the Roloffs!
