Patrick Schwarzenegger defends brother-in-law Chris Pratt and calls situation 'sad' after actor is 'canceled' by fans
PATRICK Schwarzenegger defended his brother-in-law Chris Pratt as he called the situation "sad" after the actor was "canceled" by fans.
The Jurassic World star was labeled as the "worst Chris' in a recent Twitter poll.
Patrick, 27, sat-down with Variety following the chaos and said: "It’s crazy. Twitter is a junkyard, right?
“I mean, every day there’s something. People are calling out this person or that person, or let’s get mad at this person. People are so focused on putting other people down to make themselves feel better. It’s sad, honestly.”
He continued: “Chris is pretty strong-boned. I don’t think anything really hits him deep down. I messaged him, and just mostly was like, ‘I hope you’re not taking this seriously.’ I don’t really know what else to say.”
Patrick, who is the son of legendary action star Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shiver, also suggested that the Hollywood star could perhaps learn something from his famous parents.
He explained: "I think he can learn a thing or two from my dad or my mom."
Patrick's dad, who is also a retired bodybuilder, recently underwent heart surgery.
He continued: "My dad was always adamant about not letting anybody else’s opinions mess with his drive or where he wanted to go. No matter what you’re doing in life, there’s are always going be people hating on you and wanting you to fail.”
It all kicked off after producer Amy Berg challenged fans to get rid of one actor named Chris as the group also included Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, and Chris Pine.
Most fans were quick to "eliminate" the Parks and Recreation alum, 41, as one person wrote, "I feel like Pratt's in here to make this easy for all of us," while another added, "If the choice was just Pratt, get rid of Pratt."
Fans claimed Chris is a Donald Trump supporter, and that he has connections to the Hillsong Church, which has been accused of being anti-LGBTQ.
Many people defended Chris, including his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger.
The author took to Instagram to respond to a post encouraging the "canceling."
She wrote: “Is this really what we need? There’s so much going on in the world and people struggling in so many ways. Being mean is so yesterday.”
Katherine added: "There’s enough room to love all these guys. Love is what we all need not meanness and bullying. Let’s try that."
The couple shares one daughter, as Chris has son Jack, eight, with ex-wife Anna Faris.
Chris' costars also came to his aid as Robert Downey Jr. wrote: "What a world… The ‘sinless’ are casting stones at my brother, Chris Pratt… A real Christian who lives by principle, has never demonstrated anything but positivity and gratitude.
"AND he just married into a family [the Kennedys] that makes space for civil discourse and (just plain fact) INSISTS on service as the highest value.”
He added, “If you take issue with Chris,,, I’ve got a novel idea. Delete your social media accounts, sit with your OWN defects of character, work on THEM, then celebrate your humanness…"
The duo worked alongside one another in various Marvel films.
