Strictly Come Dancing 2019 line-up: Confirmed and rumoured contestants for the next series

STRICTLY Come Dancing will be back for yet another glitzy series in 2019.

But which celebs will be in the line-up hoping to impress the judges and win the glitterball trophy? Here's everything you need to know.

Who is rumoured to be in the line up of Strictly 2019?

While it may seem as though the last series of Strictly only just finished, there are already rumours about who will be taking part in the 2019 series.

And we're all excited to see who could be making the line-up.

Here's the celebs who are being whispered about in association with the dance show…

Tina Barrett

Bookies reckon S Club 7 star Tina Barrett could be one of the stars joining Strictly Come Dancing 2019.

And bookmaker Coral have even given the star odds of 8-1 to win the show.

Company rep Harry Aitkenhead said: "We have seen flurries of requests and bets over the last few months on celebrites winning Strictly and the latest one that punters seem convinced will be dominating the dancefloor is S Club 7 star Tina Barrett
"We have got her as an 8-1 chance in the market at the moment, which puts her as third favourite.

"We think if the rumours are right and she does join the class of 2019 then she's going to have a really good chance of winning the Glitterball Trophy."

If Tina does join the lineup then she'll be following in the dancing footsteps of former bandmate Rachel Stevens who came runner-up in series 6 of the show.

Mike Bushell

TV presenter Mike Bushell has signed on to star in the forthcoming series, The Sun exclusively revealed.

According to sources, show bosses are hoping that the funnyman will also be good for laughs once the upcoming season commences, having built a reputation for his live ock-ups on BBC Breakfast.

In one blunder he appeared to cup the breast of weather presenter Carol Kirkwood, 57.

But that's not all – others include falling into a pool while interviewing England’s Commonwealth Games swimmers.

He also ripped his trousers and spilled water on them in another hilarious on-air moment.

A TV insider said: “Producers are keen to tap into the laughs that Mike can bring to the show, and the fact that he’s now one of the most familiar faces on BBC Breakfast.

“They’re also conscious of the fact he could be the dark horse of the competition. Not only have his predecessors triumphed on Strictly, but he keeps himself physically fit.”

Anneka Rice

Anneka Rice is also said to have signed a deal with Strictly bosses to appear on the show, The Sun confirmed.

She's a TV veteran whose former hit show, Challenge Anneka, aired 30 years ago on the BBC.

And while producers had missed out on the opportunity to sign the 60-year-old last year, it's a done deal for Strictly's 2019 edition.

“Strictly believe they’ve made a top signing in Anneka," a TV insider gushed.

“She’s a TV institution and a familiar face to viewers who’ll be rooting for her. Anneka is in great shape and can’t wait to strut her stuff.”

Catherine Tyldesley

The ex-Rovers Return resident, who left Coronation Street last year, plans to make a big comeback on the BBC dancing competition.

The Sun exclusively revealed in June 2019 that the actress was in talks with producers and had even had a pairing test with a pro dancer.

She said: “I adore Strictly — it’s one of my favourite ever shows. I would genuinely love to learn to dance because I can’t dance.”

While a telly source said: “Catherine loves the glitz and glamour of the show.

Producers think she’ll be a great signing because of her strong fan following and her bubbly personality. They can see her going far in the competition.”

Strictly chiefs have already tried out Catherine, 35, with a pro of a similar height to gauge which dancer she would be best suited to.

Michelle Visage

On June 6, 2019, The Sun exclusively revealed that Strictly bosses were keen to sign RuPaul's Drag Race star Michelle Visage.

The former pop singer, 50, has become an LGBT icon after eight years on the outrageous drag queen competition — which has a cult following amongst millennials.

A Strictly source said: “This is a very strategic signing from the BBC as Michelle has a huge following, especially in the gay community.

“Since she is know as the fiery judge on Drag Race producers are pre-empting her clapping back at any of the harsh comments from the Strictly panel, which will make great TV.”

Alex Scott

In July it was reported that Strictly bosses were hoping to scoop former Lioness Alex Scott.

The show's producers were said to be keen to capitalise on the popularity of the recent Women's World Cup.

If Alex, 34, agrees she will be the first women’s footballer to take part in the show's history.

The Match of the Day and Sun pundit dropped a hint by revealing she is a huge fan of Strictly and would be keen to take part.

She said: “It’s no secret that I love dancing and music — everyone’s known for years and years that it’s the one show I’d really love to do. So if they come knocking, then definitely.”

Tamara Ecclestone

BBC execs have reportedly been phoning Tamara about appearing on the 2019 show.

But the socialite has said that she will only rehearse around her five-year-old daughter Sophia’s hectic social life.

The heiress previously told The Sun Online that now her daughter Fifi, 5, is in school, it could be “the right time” for her to finally sign up to the show after years of offers from bosses.

Harry Redknapp

In April 2019 Harry Redknapp became a firm favourite to appear on Strictly Come Dancing, with bookies slashing the odds of him signing up to the BBC1 dance show.

But in May, Harry revealed he turned it down after his "hopeless" trial.

Scarlett Moffatt

Scarlett has reportedly set her sights on Strictly Come Dancing – despite winning 600 trophies as a child dancer and being taught by Anton du Beke.

The I'm A Celebrity star, 29, wants to sign up to the BBC show to have a reunion with her former teacher.

She told the Mirror: “I’m not exclusive to ITV, so I can do what I want.

"I’ve always loved Strictly – I’d love to be on it.”

Chris Evans

Although Virgin Radio host Chris Evans confirmed that he's said yes to appearing on Strictly in December 2018, The Sun revealed in July 2019 that he would no longer be taking to the dance floor.

The presenter had previously confirmed his appearance on the show during an interview on The One Show in December.

He said: "Well, I have said yes. Probably only because my wife would like to go every week.

"You'd know because you get a pair of tickets don't you."

But in July 2019, a source close to Chris told The Sun Online: "Chris had been talking about Strictly for a good while but it will not happen in 2019."

Huw Edwards

Last year Huw — who has shed 3st — was a VIP guest on the hit dance show.

Now BBC bosses have asked him to join comic Alan Carr to compete later this year.

“And I think the answer is, Steve, I’ve come here today for some advice. Despite all appearances, I am quite shy.”

Alan Carr

Alan Carr was reportedly the first celeb to be offered a spot on next year's series.

A source said: “Alan has met with the bosses and they all hit it off straight away.

“He’s a perfect celebrity for Strictly because he’s popular, funny and throws himself into everything — but has never had a day’s dance training in his life.

"What’s certain is he won’t hold back.”

Fearne Cotton

Chris Evans also claimed that his former Radio 2 colleague Fearne Cotton was “teetering on the brink” of saying yes to appearing on the show.

He added: "It will ultimately be a huge, massive sequin-covered yes."

Peter Crouch

They say it takes two to tango, and Peter Crouch is the latest celebrity rumoured to have his eyes set on the disco ball – meaning he would follow in the footsteps of his wife Abbey.

The long-limbed former footballer would be able to use is athletic body to his advantage on the dance floor as he swaps goals for glitter.

His odds of appearing on the show have been cut to 2/1.

Abbey won the trophy in 2013, although previously told CelebsNow that performing in front of the judges was her "worst nightmare."

Radzi Chinyanganya

In April 2019 it was rumoured Radzi is in advanced talks to do the show.

An insider told The Sun Online: “Radzi already has a lot of younger fans and is likely to get all their parents’ votes, but he’s bound to win over the public because he is just so likeable.”

Sam Allardyce

The former England manager could soon be showing his moves on the dance floor.

Big Sam met with Strictly executives, according to The Daily Mail.

A source said: "They were talking to him about the Christmas special but emphasised that they want him on a whole series, rather than just a one-off."

Louis Theroux

Louis Theroux sparked speculation that he's up for Strictly when he congratulated 2018 winner Stacey Dooley by tweeting "Congrats @StaceyDooley ! Me next (JK)."

Fans of the documentary maker were quick to pledge their support with one posting, "PETITION FOR THIS TO BE A THING."

Vogue Williams

In January 2019 The Sun's Bizzare column reported that Vogue was in talks to appear on Strictly.

A source said: “Vogue has all the credentials to be on Strictly and is mates with someone in the casting department.

"It looks as though 2019 will be her time.”

Vogue is friends with Strictly booker Stefania Aleksander who previously got her a place on The Jump.

Deborah James

The Sun's very own Deborah James, who is living with stage 4 bowel cancer, is hoping to be in the running.

Deborah, who writes the weekly Things Cancer Made Me Say column for Sun Online and presents the BBC podcast You, Me And The Big C, tweeted her wish to appear on the show at New Year.

Since then it has snowballed, with fans All About The Board – Tfl workers who leave inspirational messages on boards and London Underground stations – campaigning for her to be included in this year's line up.

Pro dancer Kevin Clifton has given his backing tweeting Deborah to say, "I'd Dance With You".

James Cracknell

The 46-year-old rowing legend is said to be “keen” to sign up to compete in the BBC dance competition following his split from wife Beverley Turner, who barred him from appearing on the show.

He was previously offered a slot of the series last year but Beverley, who he had been married to for 17-years, reportedly told friends she did not want “some Russian f***y in his face every week” as part of the contest.

James and Beverly, 45, announced their separation in March 2019 after previously discussing their relationship woes following the sportsman’s bike accident in 2010.

Jamie Laing

Jamie Laing is rumoured to be appearing on the show – despite Strictly operating a "ban" on reality TV stars.

He became famous after starring in Made in Chelsea, and has since appeared on Celebrity Masterchef, Celebrity Bake Off and Celebrity Hunted.

"It is a surprising U-turn from the BBC and Strictly,” a source told The Sun.

"They said previously that low-rent reality stars like Jamie would not be allowed on the show but things now seem to have changed."

The insider continued: "There’s only so many famous faces out there so clearly they have decided enough is enough and have had to retreat a bit in order to get enough celebs for this year."

Jodie Comer

The Killing Eve star has reportedly been eyed up by Strictly bosses to appear on the show after she was spotted sitting in the audience last year.

According to Betway, she is priced at 6/4 to take part in this year’s Strictly series.

A representative of the bookies told Express.co.uk: “While many Strictly rumours should be taken with a pinch of salt, the odds of Jodie Comer taking part are very short at 6/4.

However, we aren't sure how keen Comer is to go from fighting villains to dancing the fox trot.

She joked to The Sun: "They were like, ‘Maybe next year, Jodie?’ I was like, ‘Mmm, no, I don’t think so!

"I’d embarrass me, definitely!"

Bez

In January 2019, reports claimed Happy Mondays star Bez has reportedly been lined up to take part in this year's Strictly.

The maraca-shaker, whose real name is Mark Berry, is rumoured to want to do the show,  according to the Mirror.

Who is hosting Strictly 2019?

The 2019 series is likely to see the return of popular presenting duo Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

And the evening show It Takes Two will also be back.

In April 2019 it as announced that Rylan Clark-Neal would be co-hostingwith Zoe Ball.

Zoe took over the Radio 2 Breakfast Show in January, so has a big commitment there.

As far as we know the judging panel will continue with Bruno Tonioli, Shirley Ballas, and Craig Revel Horwood.

However in April this year, Darcey Bussell announced that she would be resigning as judge.

So far a replacement is yet to be confirmed though that hasn't stopped speculation.

Some front-runners to fill her judging shoes are previous winner McFly's Harry Judd, as well as former Strictly pro Oti Mabuse.

When does Strictly 2019 start?

An exact date has not yet been confirmed for the start of Strictly 2019 but it's likely to kick off in September.

In 2018 the line-up was revealed at the end of August with the launch show on September 8.

This year the competition was won by journalist Stacey Dooley and her pro dance partner Kevin Clifton.

She will feature in the live tour along with other stars from the series including Ashley Roberts, Joe Sugg and Faye Tozer.
