Strictly’s Neil Jones insists judges were wrong to mark Alex Scott down for her Tango as she didn’t make a mistake – The Sun

STRICTLY Come Dancing professional Neil Jones has vehemently defended partner Alex Scott and insisted she did not "go wrong" in their American Tango routine.

The pair came under fire from sharp-tongued judge Craig Revel Horwood, who claimed she made a mistake in their dramatic routine which scooped a lowly 23 points – yet Katya Jones' ex has told it is the judge who made the blooper.

Footballer Alex and Neil, who is enjoying his first celebrity partnership on the BBC One show, were targeted by Craig yet they still retained their position on the sequin-studded series.

Instead, Dev Griffin and Dianne Buswell were given the boot after the dreaded Dance Off.

Reassuring the footballer, 35, Neil told her on BBC One show It Takes Two: “You didn't go wrong.

“Even after we said it the other day, you didn't go wrong.

"Even Artem Chigvintsev said it the other day, you didn't go wrong.”

She added: “I was surprised… because that was my best one yet.

“I was looking at you like, 'Did I [make a mistake]?'”

Neil replied: "No, she didn't go wrong.”

In further dancing drama for the couple, Alex confessed to dropping Neil on his head this week after 13 gruelling hours of rehearsals.

The pundit was trying to do a lift with the pro dancer when she lost her gripping and he fell to the mat.

Sharing the video with friends, she insisted: “I didn’t drop him I swear!”

Fortunately Neil, 37, seemed OK and quickly got up while the pair both dissolved into hysterical laughter.

Alex shared another video of herself tripping over as she tried to master dance moves.

She told her fans: “When it gets to 10pm and my body gives up on me.”

On Saturday, Neil and Alex will dance the Charleston to Pump Up The Jam by Swingrowers.
