The Apprentice star dishes on what Alan Sugar is like behind the scene

The Apprentice: Victoria in tears as she’s grilled on staff costs

While The Apprentice has wrapped up for the year, the entrepreneurs are all busy putting what they learned during the BBC series into practice with their businesses. Speaking to Express.co.uk and other press, the finalists shared some insightful behind-the-scenes moments, and Victoria Goulbourne revealed what Lord Sugar is really like once the cameras are off.

It was another all-female final in The Apprentice as Dani Donovan, Megan Hornby, Marnie Swindells, Rochelle Anthony, and Victoria underwent the dreaded interview stage.

The hopefuls had put all they could into their business plans, which were swiftly torn apart by experts including Karren Brady and Claude Littner, who had analysed them with a fine tooth comb.

Ahead of the grueling episode being aired, Victoria talked about her experience on the BBC staple.

When asked about what Lord Sugar, 76, is like behind the scenes, she explained there’s no hidden persona once the show stops rolling.

“We don’t really get to see him sort of outside of the boardroom other than when he’s explaining what the task is,” online sweet shop owner Victoria detailed.

She added: “We don’t really get to spend much time with him to be honest. But he’s literally exactly the way that you see him on TV – like, exactly.

“It’s quite a shame to obviously always have watched the show and then like be in his company because I felt like I was always watching TV stuff but it was actually in real life.”

In the end, it was down to two options for Alan: boxer Marnie’s gym business or beautician Rochelle’s hair salon company.

After one final episode which saw both women put to the test as they enlisted the help of former co-stars to pitch their business to industry professionals, Alan made his final decision.

He selected Marnie to be his new business partner and to invest a whopping £250,000 in.

Victoria was proud of herself for making it to the tough interview stage, but admitted a dig made by Alan as he fired her was incorrect.

She recalled: “Alan advised me in the episode to keep my business as a hobby, which I don’t know if he meant…

“But my business was not a hobby. It did give me a full-time wage for two years and I’m really grateful for that.

“I’m so proud that you know, I was able to build something that did give me a full-time job essentially for the last two years.”

The Apprentice is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
