Cal State Fullerton stabbing: Cops release video of suspect
The suspect who allegedly stabbed a Cal State Fullerton staffer to death during a targeted on-campus attack was caught on surveillance video as he bolted from the crime scene.
Video released Tuesday by the Fullerton Police Department shows the suspect running from the parking lot where he allegedly stabbed Steven Shek Keung Chan, 57, to death Monday morning.
Authorities found Chan bleeding from his head, with stab wounds all over his body, inside his silver Infiniti sedan.
Chan, of Hacienda Heights — who served as a budget and finance administrator from 2009 to 2017 and returned to campus earlier this year as a special consultant — could not be saved, and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
Along with the video, police released a composite sketch of the suspect.
He was last seen fleeing in a black, four-door sedan, likely a newer-model BMW X6, with black wheels and dark tinted windows, Fullerton police said in a statement. He’s believed to be Asian, in his 20s, last seen wearing a black windbreaker and black pants.
Authorities believe he was injured during the attack, and may have lacerations to one or both of his hands.
Chan was likely targeted, authorities have said.
Meanwhile, a backpack believed to belong to the attacker was found under the car, holding a knife-like weapon, items that could be used for a kidnapping — including zip ties and wigs — and an incendiary device, police confirmed.
