Man, 51, in court accused of murdering boy, 12, mowed down in school hit-and-run

A MAN has today appeared in court accused of murdering a 12-year-old boy and attempting to kill ten others in a hit-and-run outside a school.

Harley Watson died in hospital after the car ploughed into kids leaving Debden Park High School, in Loughton, Essex, at 3.20pm on Monday.

Terry Glover, 51, was arrested at a nearby pub and later charged with murder, ten counts of attempted murder and a charge of dangerous driving.

The attempted murder charges relate to 23-year-old Raquel Jimeno and six boys and three girls aged between 12 and 23 who were injured in the horror smash.

Glover today appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court where he spoke only to confirm his name, nationality, age and address.

He was remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Chelmsford Crown Court on December 9.

Heartfelt tributes flooded in for Harley, who was described as a "little man with a big heart".

His heartbroken family said: "We are so devastated by what has happened.

"Harley was a good, kind, helpful and lovely boy.

"We would like to thank everyone for their kind wishes and concern."

Pals also left floral tributes and balloons at the school gates for the "lovely, funny boy".

Christian Kavanagh, Executive Head at Debden, said: "We offer our heartfelt condolences to the young man.

"A young life so tragically lost. He made a mark on the school and was liked and loved by students."

Well-wishers donating to a GoFundMe page in Harley's memory has so far raised more than £54,000.
