Protester denies urinating on police officer during 'Kill the Bill' riots

A WOMAN has today denied urinating on a police officer during ‘Kill the Bill’ riots in Bristol.

Indigo Bond, 20, denied outraging public decency by deliberately urinating on PC Hume and riot during the chaos in March. 

Bond, from Fishponds, will have her trial heard from May 3 next year.

Eight more people appeared in court today facing charges relating to the
riot in Bristol.

Thousands of people took part in a march on March 21 before a sit-down protest outside Bridewell police station.

So-called "Kill the Bill" campaigners were demonstrating against the proposed Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill, which would give police and the Home Secretary increased powers to stop protests.

It also makes a new law to protect monuments and statues with offenders
convicted of damaging them facing up to ten years in prison.

But a peaceful protest turned violent as masked demonstrators smashed up a police station and attacked officers.

Protesters let off fireworks and threw missiles at police, setting a police van on fire.

Police put out a series of appeals to trace the perpetrators and
arrests followed.

IN THE DOCK

Last Friday, five people were jailed in connection with the disturbances.

In court today, Daniel Ellis, 25, of Hartciffe, denied riot and arson being reckless by setting fire to a police van and was released on bail ahead of his trial from April 11 next year.

Charly Pitman, 23, of Brislington, denied riot and was released on bail ahead of her trial on April 19 next year.

Sean Davies, 44, pleaded guilty to riot, and was released on bail with the judge to pass sentence on him on September 9.

Carmen Fitchett, 22, pleaded not guilty to riot and was released on bail
before her trial on July 4 next year.

Francesca Horn, 25, pleaded not guilty to riot and was bailed before trial from April 25.

Matthew O'Neill, 30, denied riot and arson being reckless by
destroying a police van and was bailed pending trial starting on April 11

Richard Fox, 30, of Montpelier, denied a charge of riot and his case was adjourned for a trial starting on April 19, with Fox handed bail.

Joseph Paxton, 29, of Montpelier has his case adjourned until Wednesday.
