Emmerdale brings in Drag Race UK winner The Vivienne for special Pride cameo

Drag Race UK champion The Vivienne is joining the cast of Emmerdale.

The star has landed a role playing herself after secret talks with show bosses.

Viewers will see her open the village first Pride festival.

A spokesperson said: “The Vivienne will make an appearance at Emmerdale’s first Pride day, which will see the village church and LGBTQ+ communities join forces for a day of celebration.”

The Vivienne said: ”I am so happy that I will be part of Emmerdale's first ever Pride.

“My role is to officially open the event on the stage! It's great for Emmerdale to be doing this and I’m delighted to be part of it. We’re making that little bit of history for all the gays and the LGBTQ+ community and it’s just an absolute honour.”

Emmerdale producer, Kate Brooks said: "We're absolutely thrilled to welcome The Vivienne to Emmerdale to help our villagers celebrate this year's Pride event in style.

“The Vivienne will add a dash of her own inimitable wit and fabulousness to the show and will certainly raise a few eyebrows in the process.”

The Vivienne’s appearance will air at the end of next month.

It will be the latest big-name cameo for the ITV soap.

Over the years famous faces including Katherine Jenkins, Marti Pellow and Lionel Blair have all appeared.

This isn't the first time The Vivienne has had an impact on the show, as Mandy Dingle's leopard print and pink wedding dress was inspired by her for her ill-fated wedding last month.

The soap's wardrobe designer told Daily Star and other press: "It's based on a dress worn by The Vivienne, who was the first winner of RuPaul's Drag Race UK.

"We copied it slightly and added a touch of Bridgerton and Big Fat Gypsy Weddings."

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7pm on ITV.
