Tipping Point fans were left scratching their heads on Tuesday afternoon as one contestant gave Ben Shephard a surprise nickname.

The 46-year-old television presenter welcomed four contestants to the famous ITV studio as they battled it out to win the highly sought after cash prizes.

Emily, Nash, Kim and Mike answered a series of questions to win turns on an arcade-style machine.

Dropping tokens down a choice of four chutes, they each hoped to knock piles of the counters off a moving shelve – the more they collected, the greater the prize fund.

Contestant Nash managed to make it through to the penultimate round but he unfortunately lost the head-to-head round to bubbly Emily.

However, before his departure from the Tipping Point studio, Nash subtly called Good Morning Britain favourite Ben "Benji", and the move didn't go unnoticed by fans watching at home.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "Somebody say Benji?"

Another added: "Benji lol. Jeez this next bit is going to be interesting."

A third person posted: "Omg who is Benji?"

While a fourth social media user wrote: "Who the f*** is Benji?"

"Benji knows best apparently," someone else typed.

Father-of-two Ben failed to acknowledge the name given to him by Nash.

The ITV star joined his wife Annie and children Sam and Jack for a pub lunch over the weekend.

Sharing a rare family snap with his followers, he penned: "Sunshine on a rainy day! Mrs S organized a lovely lunch @thevictoriasheen.

"It was the first time we've all been out for lunch for months and was delicious!! The rain didn't stop play either although Sam is clearly too tall for this umbrella now!"

The teenager could be seen next to his gardener mum, who seemed to struggle to protect him from the rain due to his height.

Ben, who has been married to Annie since 2004, rarely shows pictures of his family, but when he does, his fans are clearly delighted.

Last month, Ben shared a lovely post with his wife to announce some happy personal news – they had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The snap was a collage of two pictures, one showing Ben getting the vaccine and a second showing him and his wife of 16 years smiling to the camera with their arms around each other.

In the selfie with his wife, the couple both wore stickers that declared they had been vaccinated, which Annie had stuck to her forehead.
