It's believed he'll be joined by a raft of new characters, with some original cast members making guest appearances.

Here we take a look at their varied fates and fortunes since the hit US sitcom ended in 2004.

His personal life has also kept him in the spotlight – he's been married four times and has seven children with three different women.

He was engaged in a bitter divorce feud with his ex-wife Camille Grammer, who went on to star in The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

The former Playboy model took the drama of their relationship to the reality show and once claimed the actor liked to cross-dress and that they didn't "mesh sexually".

As part of their divorce settlement, he paid her a hefty $30million as they had not signed a prenuptial agreement.

Kelsey later told Piers Morgan he was instrumental in his ex landing the coveted role on Real Housewives as she had always wanted to be famous.

He is now married to English flight attendant Kayte Walsh, who Camille claims was the catalyst for the breakdown of the marriage.

Kayte, who is 25 years his junior, is the daughter of former footballer Alan Walsh.

Kelsey has a history of health issues, from drug abuse to being a recovering alcoholic.

In 2008 he nearly died after suffering a heart attack while paddle-boarding with Camille in Hawaii.

Jane Leeves – Daphne Moon

English star Jane Leeves' portrayal of physiotherapist Daphne Moon earned her an Emmy and Golden Globes nominations.

After Frasier, she continued to act in a number of TV shows and had a starring role in Hot in Cleveland for five years from 2010.

The 61-year-old currently stars as Kitt Voss in the medical drama The Resident.

She is married to Marshall Coben, a CBS Paramount Television executive – his network is affiliated with the producers of the new instalment of Frasier.

They share two children, Isabella and Finn.

It is currently unknown if she will return to the show; last year she said she wouldn't leave The Resident if it went ahead.

Jane remains close to her co-stars and even started a business with Peri Gilpin – who was in the delivery room during the birth of her first child and made godmother.

David Hyde Pierce and John Mahoney are also godfathers to her son Finn.

David Hyde Pierce – Dr Niles Crane

David, 63, played posh psychiatrist Niles, Frasier's brother, and won four Emmys during the show's initial run.

He remained busy after the show wrapped, starring in Sleepless in Seattle, The Good Wife and Wet Hot American Summer.

David has also established himself as a respected stage actor and has acted and directed in successful Broadway plays, winning a Tony award for his role in the musical Curtains in 2007.

That same year he came out as gay after years of rumours about his sexuality. He married to writer and producer Brian Hargrove in 2008.

The star has not committed to reprising his role in Frasier. He is set to appear in an upcoming horror flick alongside Russell Crowe and Chloe Bailey called The Georgetown Project.

John Mahoney – Martin Crane

John was late to acting, beginning his career in his late 30s after quitting his day job to take classes.

The English-born American star played Frasier's dad Martin 'Marty' Crane and won a Screen Actor's Guild award for his portrayal.

As a stage actor he bagged a Tony award for his performance in the play The House of Blue Leaves.

After Frasier, he appeared in numerous TV shows including 3rd Rock From the Sun, ER, and Foyle's War.

Sadly John passed away in 2018 aged 77 after battling throat cancer.

In the 80s he was diagnosed with colon cancer and managed to beat it then, and again in 2014.

A devoted Catholic, he rarely spoke about his personal life and died without marrying or having any children.

Peri Gilpin – Roz Doyle

Peri, 61, played Roz Doyle, the no-nonsense, straight-talking producer of Frasier's radio show.

She was also on the sitcom's parent show Cheers and won a Screen Actors Guild award alongside her cast members in 1999.

After the show, she starred in TV shows such as The Lionhearts, Scorpion, and Desperate Housewives, and last year was cast in the movie We Broke Up.

She married Christian Vincent in 1999 – the couple have twins born via a surrogate in 2004.

Peri is a passionate cancer research campaigner after losing her mum in 1997, and a prominent Democrat. She campaigned for Joe Biden via her Instagram page in the run-up to the US election in 2020.

Dan Butler – Bob 'Bulldog' Briscoe

Dan played the volatile and arrogant sportscaster Bob 'Bulldog' Briscoe on Frasier.

He is also known for his roles in Hey Arnold!, The Mist, Roseanne and stars in the new Netflix Marilyn Monroe production, Blondie.

Like many of his co-stars, the 67-year-old is an accomplished stage actor and has starred in a number of critically acclaimed productions.

Dan came out as gay to his family in his early 20s and is now married to producer Richard Waterhouse.

Harriet Sansom Harris – Bebe Glazer

Harriet starred as Bebe Glazer, Frasier's talent agent throughout the series and was described as "Lady Macbeth without the sincerity" by Niles.

After Frasier, Harriet joined the cast of the hit series Desperate Housewives in 2004, playing the role of Felicia Tilman.

She also starred in movies such as Memento, Addams Family Values, Nurse Betty and Phantom Thread.

Harriet made an appearance in hit series Ally McBeal, Ellen, Ghost Whisperer, and Six Feet Under.

Tom McGowan – Kenny Daly

Tom starred as Kenny Daly, Frasier's station manager at KACL, and appeared in 42 episodes.

Since then he he's had numerous TV show on Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Everybody Loves Raymond and The Good Fight, and is also a successful stage actor.

In 2011, he starred as the Wizard in the Broadway adaptation of Wicked, and in Casa Valentina.

Tom is married to wife Cathy and the couple share two children, Mark and Mary.

Moose the dog

Moose, the dog was a much-loved member of the cast and played the role of Eddie, Martin's pet.

He had a running gag with Frasier where the dog would annoy him by staring at him for long periods.

When the show came to an end, Moose continued acting and appeared in several TV shows afterwards.
